Resort Information
Scheffau, a name which derives from the German "schiefe Au", or steep meadow, is an idyllic village set on the hillside beneath the Wilder Kaiser mountain range. With its traditional chalet-style houses winding up the mountainside and a charming village centre with cafés, bars and restaurants, this is a wonderful base from which to explore the Tyrol. During the summer months there are regular evening festivals when the centre comes alive with traditional music, craft and food stalls. Getting About
There is a regular bus service to St. Johann and Söll, whilst the FREE "Kaiserjet" shuttle service connects Scheffau with the neighbouring villages of Ellmau, Going, Söll and Itter.
Strollers
Stroll along the valley to the nearby villages of Söll and Ellmau or walk up to the beautiful alpine lake, the Hintersteinersee.
Ramblers
The area is a walkers paradise with superb rambles, including higher mountain walks using the summer lifts You can buy a 7 day Bergwelt walkers' pass locally giving you unlimited use of the lifts for approx. £36.
Hikers
