Resort Information
Obergurgl, Austria's highest parish, is a charming resort located at the head of the Ötz Valley, surrounded by magnificent panoramic views. Quiet and unspoilt, this is an ideal base for a relaxing break, with some of the finest hotels in Austria, boasting superb facilities. For the more energetic amongst you, Obergurgl boasts some of the best hiking trails in Austria and many invigorating mountain walks. Favourite routes include the ascent of the Hohe Mut by foot or chairlift from where a panoramic view of the glaciers and ice fields of the Hauptkamm can be achieved.

Getting About
There is a bus service to Sölden (25 minutes), Ötz (1 hour 15 minutes) and Telfs (1 hour 55 minutes). Please note that car hire is not available locally and must be pre-booked.
Strollers
Although Obergurgl is more of a hikers destination, strollers can enjoy the marvellous views from the village.
Ramblers
Lots of medium level walks from Obergurgl to the foot of the Gaisberg glacier (2500m) exist or try rambling through the valley to look at the amazing range of alpine flowers, herbs and medicinal plants.
Hikers
Obergurgl is a hikers parardise: the choice is endless. The Ramolhaus mountain hut is a popular goal or you could try the route to the glacier village Vent. The High Alpine School offers guided hikes to higher peaks such as Wildspitz, Austria's second highest mountain.
Sightseeing
A range of excursions is available in Obergurgl, for example to Innsbruck and to Merano (Italy). Please book locally. Thomson rep: There is no rep in Obergurgl. You will receive a welcome pack and contact number on arrival.
Twin Centre Suggestion
Why not try a Twin Centre combining 7 days in Obergurgl at the Hotel Edelweiss with 7 days in St. Anton, staying at the highly rated Hotel Arlberg. St. Anton also offers fabulous walking possibilities amidst breathtaking scenery.
