Resort Information

Mayrhofen is superbly located in the heart of the lush green Ziller Valley. Surrounded by wonderful Tirolean scenery, there are plenty of hills and valleys to be explored. NEW for 2009, you can join our Thomson walking weeks with our dedicated Thomson walking guide, a great way to discover this beautiful area. You'll also find a whole variety of activities, including mountain biking, white water rafting and canyoning, plus summer skiing on the Hintertux glacier nearby. For those seeking a more relaxing holiday, Mayrhofen's charming village centre is overflowing with terrace cafés and craft shops, and the town exudes a very sociable atmosphere.

Getting About

The train service runs the length of the Ziller Valley and beyond. There is also an extensive bus service connecting the Ziller Valley and surrounding valleys. There is an efficient circuit of cable cars, gondolas, and chairlifts.

Strollers

Several gentle paths lead down the Ziller Valley and the promenade hugs the river as far down the valley as you choose to stroll.

Ramblers

There are a number of higher level walks in the area. Taking the Penkenbahn cable car from the centre of town, you can ascend crossing higher meadows to admire the 4 valleys which converge on Mayrhofen.

Hikers

The Schwarzachtal is an untouched valley with a climb to higher pastures. The view of Brandberg is spectacular from here as it is also from the Rastkogel and Ahornspitze.

Twin Centre Suggestion

Why not try a Twin Centre combining 7 days in Mayrhofen, at the Spa Hotel Strass, with its excellent range of facilities, with 7 days in Lake Traunsee? A great choice of hotel would be the lovely Hotel Post in Traunkirchen.
